That Extra Skein of Yarn

Hello Everyone!

Just a short post today as it has been a quite week in my knitting world.  The hubs competed in a triathlon on Saturday in Dallas so we drove down on Friday, I was able to get 5 hexi-puffs done and Bob did great in his triathlon!

As for my Rhinebeck sweater, The Gnarled Oak Cardigan I am almost done with one sleeve.  The pattern requires 17.5 inches but I am going for 19.5. I have long arms and I like long sleeves.  Sleeves that I can move in.  When I make changes like this to sweaters, like make things longer or bigger, it always makes me glad I bought that extra skein of yarn, I might actually need it.

Tonight for dinner we are grilling hamburgers, I am also grilling some chicken for lunches this week. I went outside a few minutes ago to turn the grill on we were out of propane.  So of course, my husband, the wonderful man that he is just got back from getting a fresh tank and just hooked it up and turned the grill on so it would be hot by the time I finished this post.  So I must go now and grill some chicken and burgers and veggies.

I will talk to you all soon.

Happy Knitting.

Hello All,

Well, its done, my race season is done.  I’m calling it my race season because I was crazy enough to sign up for 3 5K’s in the course of a month.  WHY?!?!?!?!  But it’s done. It finished today with the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. You can see a picture of my tired smile on my Instagram page, you can also follow me. I love new Instagram followers.

Now that my race season is over with for a few months at least I can concentrate on other things.  Like Knitting!  Well, lets see. I am ALMOST done with the Feathernest Raglan.  I literally have an inch and a half left to go on the second sleeve cuff.  I am so excited to almost be done with it, now I have a beautiful new sweater to wear next fall and winter.

I’m not sure what I will knit next.  I’m thinking a shawl.  I will have to look in my Ravelry que and see what jumps at me.  I have so many patterns in my Ravelry que and favorites.   I would also like to knit up a few more hexi-puffs in the near future also.

Last weekend I had a 5K in Springfield, MO, about a 4 hour drive from here. I drove part of the way the way there, but when I wasn’t driving I was knitting. I got 6 hexi-puffs done.  In case you don’t know, a hexi-puff is a quilt piece for the Bee Keepers Quilt pattern by Tiny Owl Knits.  You can see it here.  You make the hexi-puffs of leftover sock yarn and you sew them all together to make quilt.  The pattern calls for stuffing them but I am leaving them unstuffed.  I want to make a blanket big enough for a throw or to go on a queen sized bed.  I figure I need 500, I have about 150 right now.  Definitely a work in progress.

Well, that is all I have for today.  I have a cup of coffee by my side and am just enjoying my relaxing Sunday.  Maybe I will finish that sweater.

Talk to you soon & Happy knitting!
